Black Widow is a Dynacom kit. I
pretty much built it as
per the instructions. It is an all fiberglass
rocket. The body tube, nose cone and the fins are all made of fiberglass
material. This makes it exceptionally strong, but also a tad bit on the
heavy side. It was built in 1998 and as of January 2003 this rocket has
flown a total of 24 times. Six times on an I284 motor, five times on a
J350, six times on a J570 and seven times on a K185. The K185 motors
tend to put it up over 9000 feet and are a real joy to watch due to the long
burn times.
If I was to do it all over again, I would shorten
the internal motor tube slightly in order to gain some additional room for the
parachute and recovery harness. The kit provides very limited space for
these items. Otherwise it's a great kit. Unfortunately, it is now
out-of-production.
